Established 1999
I have been working with PCs and laptops for a long time, having had more than a thousand customers from the local area to date.
Have a look below to see what I can and can't do, and don't hesitate to give me a ring even if you are not sure what the problems might be to have a chat about your computing issues.
I have a passion for gaming PCs and computer hardware and honestly I enjoy dealing with people as much as I do with their IT problems.
I am very careful when I work, keeping your data and equipment safe is paramount and I will sometimes take days of “on time” to work on tricky issues to try to get a solution, but you will still pay around £50.
I am listed as the 2nd-best computer fixer in Newbury. I think I am No 1, I will let you make your own mind up as to whether I should take the top slot!
Drop me a line and let's have a chat.
Non-booting machines (ones that will not start properly) are a speciality, including troubleshooting hardware problems.
I can usually replace laptop screens, keyboards and sometimes power jacks, as well as replace batteries, upgrade RAM and drives.
I don’t mind giving advice on the phone, give me a ring and let's talk about your computing issues. Often I can sort you out over the phone and give you directions on things to try before you need to bring your thing round to me.
I can set up a machine with the Linux operating system for you. This is often a good way to get a bit more life out of an old machine and also a chance to try it out and see if you like it.
You usually need to bring me your laptop or PC and leave it with me for a few days. Please don't turn up without talking to me first. I am not a shop.
It's important that I have the power supply for your machine and I will also need access to your operating system which means you will need to give me your password or pin so I can log into your Windows account.
If you don't want to give me access to your Microsoft Live account, please let me know up-front as I could probably work around that, although it's not ideal.
If it is not too hard to do, it will be a bit less, if it is really tricky then it will be a bit more, but not a lot.
I don't make any mark-up on parts, what I pay is what you pay and, obviously, parts are extra.
All new parts are usually covered by my suppliers or from the manufacture warranty. However, I sometimes need to use second-hand parts from eBay but I will let you know if this is the case.
Thank you,
Yours, the Computer Doc
